Man United Eye Striker Rasmus Højlund
Atalanta striker, Rasmus Højlund, appears to be a popular transfer target this season, but Manchester United aren’t too worried about their chances.
According to reports, Atalanta are hoping to get as much as €70 million for the 20-year-old star, plus €10 million in add-ons. However, a gap in the player’s valuation purportedly exists, which could leave some wiggle room for the interested parties involved.
While Paris Saint-Germain have made a €50-million bid for Højlund yesterday, Thursday 27 July, Man United don’t appear to be too worried about the competition, as several publications have revealed that the Dane has expressed a preference for the English club and that he may even be willing to turn down a higher salary so as to sign with them.
The Red Devils will need to take Financial Fair Play constraints into account, which could limit them to a €60-million package agreement. However, a good relationship between them and Atalanta could pave the way for discussions.
When asked about the potential transfer during the press conference following a 2-0 friendly loss to Real Madrid yesterday, Man U manager Erik ten Hag chose to keep his cards close, simply saying: “We never talk about players under contract with another club.”
